The Chinese Stereotypes are often portrayed in almost all kinds of creative expressions like media, TV, press and etc. Asians especially Chinese have faced terrible discrimination and have been victims of hostility related to their ethnic and lifestyle stereotypes.
SOME COMMON CHINESE STEREOTYPES
There are many common stereotypes about Chinese People, but we have brought you some of the best. Do read the 7 most common Stereotypes about Chinese, Here we go !!
1) All Asians are Chinese
All Asians look same so automatically all the Asians are Chinese. No man, there are Japanese, Koreans and Taiwanese as well in this world.
2) Chinese have small and slanted eyes
If you wake up and your eyes are swelled then you are automatically a Chinese. Hey your eyes look so small today, you so look like a Chinese person. Asians have such eyes due to their climate and environment to protect them from sunlight and cold temperature.
3) Chinese eat cats and dogs
There is a very small amount of Chinese people who eat cats and dogs. For the rest of the Chinese people cats and dogs are their friends.
4) Chinese products are worthless, cheap and crap!
People believe any product with low quality is China made. There are many famous and popular brands made by China. It’s not anything about the manufacturer, it’s about the other party who pays and gives order for the production of their products.
5) Chinese only eat noodles and rice
Not true at all. Chinese cuisine is the most diverse cuisine. They always have so many options when it comes to cook food, according to the season, region and food available. They have a larger variety of vegetables available in China.
6) Chinese are very smart and are excellent at maths!
In China due to conservative parents the kids grow in strict environment that is why they are really smart. I think this is something really good. Due to this stereotype many dumb Chinese children feel proud even though they are so stupid and bad at maths. Some of the children are very intelligent and good at maths and science but of course not all the Chinese are the same.
7) Chinese men are misogynists
Another stereotype of Chinese and East Asian men is that, they are misogynists, women hater, insensitive and disrespectful towards women. They are portrayed and considered as male chauvinists in different forms of media. The very famous movie Wolverine is an example of this kind of stereotype, also the novel Rising sun by Micheal Crichton.
8) Chinese people are not into sports
People from China are famous for not taking part in sports. They are stereotyped for being athletically inferior from other people and races. Due to this stereotype Chinese and other Asians are being underrepresented in the recruitment processes of different sports tournament and events. They face difficulties to get there. At times it becomes really difficult for them to prove themselves as good sportsmen.
Honestly speaking there is a long list of stuff Chinese people are being stereotyped for each day. We are no one to judge other people. We need to look into ourselves before we point a finger on someone else. Live and let other people live!
